For as long as I have been writing, I have been responding to pieces of artwork. The word Ekphrasis comes from the Greek word ‘Ecphrasis’ meaning to ‘out’ (ec) and ‘speak’ (phrasis). It came to be known as a descriptive response or evocation of a work or art. To me Ekphrasis writing is a conversation, a translation, a back-and-forth between forms using different languages but still somehow managing to speak to each other.
